Curt Herzog believes in the transformative power of fraternity.  What he knows, though, is that a strong, vital, values-based organization doesn’t just create itself. 

 

In his signature program, Recruitment Done RIGHT, Curt challenges fraternity and sorority leaders to recruit with passion, intention, and alignment with their personal and organizational values.  Based on his experience in the chartering of dozens of chapters and the recruitment of thousands of members, he believes there is a distinctive formula which sets great organizations apart from others; his goal is to translate that experience and equip all leaders to recruit the RIGHT way.

 

Learning Outcomes: Audiences members will investigate the relationship between their personal and organizational values, identity, and recruitment practices; Identify gaps in setting recruitment goals and actualizing the members they invite to membership; Develop strategies to help existing members better communicate and translate organizational and recruitment goals to potential new members; Identify gaps in current practices which may be causing long-term membership, risk management and retention issues; Equip members to begin acting immediately to develop short-term and long-term recruitment and retention strategies.

Getting to the Charter

One of the basic necessities of human life is belonging. We all crave community. Some are content with simply joining while others want to breakthrough and start something new. It’s those innovators that become founding members and challenge the status quo.  

 

Getting to the chartering can be hard and the to-do list is long, but looking past the checklist towards meaningful and authentic goals is what establishes a path to success. This analytical program provides tangible strategies for your new organization. We will not only examine the tasks of earning a charter, we will identify the key priorities that establish a foundation for success and increase the likelihood of a long-term, high achieving chapter.

 

Learning Outcomes: Participants will develop a list of core priorities for their new organization; Identify potential hurdles which may prevent success; Consider stakeholders who may be able to support their chartering journey; Evaluate current operational decisions to ensure they are linked with overarching group values.

Surviving The Post-Chartering Funk

Chartering a new fraternity chapter is an incredibly exhausting and exhilarating experience. Starting off on the right foot means months of hard work, establishing programs, achieving chartering requirements, recruiting and keeping morale strong. When the charter is achieved, it is a culmination of tremendous sacrifice and a celebration of the achievement of a collaborative goal, unlike many others. 

 

Then, when the celebration quiets down, you realize it's time to keep the brotherhood going strong. That's when the real work begins. 

 

With the right planning and the right people, newly chartered groups can market themselves to be the best version of fraternity, but it takes precise steps and reasonable expectations to make it happen.  Surviving the “Post-Chartering Funk" means honoring the hard work that led to the charter while still creating an expectation of ownership among the brothers who come after. In this interactive and inquisitive conversation, Curt helps groups chart the course for success in those years following chartering. Building a fraternity can be hard. Solidifying a positive identity is even harder. With courage, positive momentum, and perspective we can build chapters that truly define fraternal excellence.
